Canada House is a restored textile warehouse on Chepstow Street in Central Manchester.
Once home to mills, engineering works and iron foundries, then packing and shipping warehouses before becoming the city’s theatreland, Chepstow Street and adjacent Oxford Street have long occupied an important place in Manchester’s cultural history.
In 2016, Kinrise acquired the site and restored the building, placing their attention, as always, on design quality, flexible use of space and state of the art technology.
This has resulted in being able to bring Canada House back to its former glory - restoring an impressive Art Nouveau-style building and transforming it into a hub for modern business.
This six storey building catered to individuals and businesses from small to large with a range of varied workspaces, a co-working space, as well as a gym and a swimming pool. Home to a vibrant and diverse group of businesses, Canada House also plays an active role in the local area arranging networking and cultural events and working with local businesses and charities to integrate the building’s working community into the fabric of local society.
A partnership with The Clink Charity has seen their first venue open outside of prison grounds, called The Clink Café. The café provided training for former prisoners and homeless people to gain qualifications, skills and employment. Plus a co-working and networking space brings with it its own mentoring programme and business support infrastructure for small local start-ups.
