Workplace vs Workspace; what’s the difference?
We all know that the office isn't the only place work gets done anymore. So to understand the role of the office today we need to be clear on the distinction between the communal workplace and the individual workspace?
A workplace is much more than a desk to work from. It consists of spaces, services and people working together in harmony to create experiences, build culture, inspire collaboration, spark innovation, unlock opportunity, and connect community.
A workspace is a personalised area for focus and productivity. The objective of the workspace is to allow and sustain core tasks getting done. Enabling focus, maintaining energy and protecting wellbeing (think - feeling happy, body posture, fresh air, anti-headache lighting...) are all part of it.
Not valuing both or blurring the lines can cost companies innovation, productivity and most importantly, people.
But when we design and plan with an understanding of both, that’s when we can see people, companies and culture thriving across our cities.
