No Building As Usual
No Building As Usual
It was our joy to sponsor the #NoBuildingAsUsual project - a collaborative, cross-sector live-build summer school playing its part in levelling up the construction sector and giving opportunities to those unrepresented in the industry.
Over 11 weeks, the initiative offered hands-on construction experience, teaching students how to build low carbon designs in response to the climate emergency whilst also addressing diversity issues in the industry.
An impressive project by Studio Bark - nicely aligned with our own four business capitals: human, social, environmental and financial. So it was an easy decision for us to support them!
Social. #NoBuildingAsUsual works with young people from different backgrounds and ethnicities, reflecting on inclusion and diversity in the construction sector.
Human. The 12 students on the programme gave testimonials about the amazing developmental opportunity to “get out there and be hands on with architecture and to see how everything translates from paper to real life”. Evidence that giving young people the opportunity to roll up their sleeves and learn by doing, equips them with the skills, experiences and confidence to take on to their future education and careers.
Environmental. By partnering with the tech start-up Looper, #NoBuildingAsUsual crunched their carbon numbers whilst increasing ecological knowledge and understanding of environmental impact of supply chains. A small signpost to a big ecologically-harmful industry as to where it should be heading.
Financial. At Kinrise, we’re passionate about investing in people and projects that connect to our four capitals. So we were delighted to sponsor #NoBuildingAsUsual.
Here’s to many more experimental projects in the future!
